Škoda JS will supply 32 more PRO-M drives for VVER-440 of the Rivne NPP
22.02.2024
By July 14, 2024, the Czech Škoda JS will supply the actuators of the regulatory bodies of the reactor control and protection system for the Rivne NPP. As reported on the Prozorro site, Škoda JS is to supply 32 modernized ARC drives of the PRO-M type of its own production for power units #1 and #2 of the RNPP at a price of 343,000 euros, which has not changed since 2019.
The cost includes manufacturing, testing, acceptance tests at the supplier's site, packaging, chief supervision of installation and commissioning, participation in tests at the station site, as well as the development of technical documentation and warranty service for four years after commissioning.
The new generation PRO-M drives have high reliability, extended functionality, and an improved self-diagnosis system. As Škoda JS notes, the new drives have modern power and control electronics with the latest solutions, as well as increased safety and resource performance with the possibility of a reasonable extension of the service life. Thus, the modernization of the actuators made it possible to increase the design service life of the actuators from 15 to 25 years. These drives have already been installed at western NPPs with VVER-440 reactors – Dukovany, Mohovce, Bogunice and Paksh NPPs.
In addition, according to the contract, which was valid from 2019 to 2022, Škoda JS has already started deliveries of modernized PRO-M drives for power units with VVER-440 reactors of the RNPP (the contract provided for 38 drives per power unit). However, due to the full-scale invasion, only the first batch was delivered. Last August, Energoatom ordered 8 more modernization drives for the RNPP.
We will remind you that in November 2022, Škoda JS finally and completely changed its owner to the Czech ČEZ Group, the main shareholder of which is the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic.
For the past decades, the Czech company Škoda JS has been working at Ukrainian nuclear power plants:
- implemented the projects "Implementation of the system of forced pressure relief of the hermetic enclosure system" and "Systems to prevent early bypass of the hermetic envelope in case of molten masses of the active zone from the reactor shaft into the channels outside the hermetic volume", which were carried out as part of the Comprehensive consolidated program of increasing the level of safety of NPP power units with EBRD/Euratom loan funds;
- transferred the technology and equipment for the modernization of the main connector of the Main Circulation Pump (MCP) of the NPP power units to SD "Atomremontservice";
- implemented a system of group and individual control of the SUS actuators and modernized the SUS itself;
- modernized polar cranes for NPPs of Ukraine;
- supplied equipment for the modification of the transshipment machine, SHEM and SGIU drives (software and technical complex of group and individual control systems), racks for compacted storage of spent nuclear fuel and graphite and nickel gaskets.
In addition, "Energoatom" considered the possibility of introducing equipment for the extraction, transportation and disposal of neutron flux sensors and thermocouples from reactors of the VVER-1000 type when the service life of these sensors is reached, which is manufactured by a Czech company.
For this project, in 2016, Škoda JS won an award for innovation in the Quality Innovation Award 2016 international competition, organized by the Finnish Quality Society.
