After finalizing the project, KIEP Energoatom purchased additional low-voltage switching devices for the Complex for RW processing at the KhNPP from NVP "Radiy"
10.07.2023
Energoatom purchased additional low-voltage switching devices of 0.4 kV for the electrical equipment of the repair network of the complex for the processing of radioactive waste at the KhNPP from Radiy for UAH 7 million.
We will remind you that the general purchase of low-voltage switching devices and dry power transformers 6/0.4 kV for the RAW Complex took place in May 2021 for the amount of UAH 14 million. Then Radiy won the tender in Ukratom LLC Service and Promyslovi systems, LTD.
After changes were made to the RAW Complex project by its designer JSC KIEP, the repair network of the nuclear power plant's radioactive waste processing complex was included in the facility, which, according to Atomproektengineering, necessitated the need for an additional purchase of equipment worth UAH 7 million. It is interesting that the cost of all the equipment - the cabinet with the transformer and low-voltage switching devices in 2021 amounted to UAH 9.8 million.
We will remind you that the complexes for the processing of solid radioactive waste at the Rivne and Khmelnytsky NPPs were built as part of the implementation of the radioactive waste management strategy. The complexes include facilities for extracting RW from existing storage facilities, for fragmentation and sorting, for drying RW, for burning solid RW and radioactively contaminated oils, superpressing, cementation, metal deactivation, as well as a RW certification system.
The complex was put into operation at the RNPP in 2018. The construction of the radioactive waste processing complex at the Khmelnytskyi NPP is ongoing. The construction of the complex and installation of the equipment was planned to be completed in November 2022, and the start of trial operation was planned for May 2023.
