Kharkov Institute of Physics and Technology resumed the work of the Scientific and research complex "Pryskorjuvach", which was destroyed by russia

The National Scientific Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology" is overcoming the consequences of russian aggression. The LUE-40 linear resonance accelerator, which is the only source of electrons with an energy of up to 100 MeV in Ukraine, was restored and put into operation at the NSC "Kharkov Institute of Physics and Technology". This was reported by the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

As a result of military operations last year, almost all systems of the LUE-40 accelerator were damaged, and some were completely disabled. For 10 months, employees of the Research and Research Complex "Accelerator" of the NSC "Kharkov Institute of Physics and Technology" repaired and adjusted this installation on their own. Now it is completely restored, and the beam parameters correspond to the passport values. Thanks to this, NSC "Kharkov Institute of Physics and Technology" and the Institute of Scintillation Materials of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kharkiv) began to jointly investigate the radiation stability of new scintillation materials.
The main purpose of the accelerator is to carry out experimental research in the fields of nuclear physics, radiation materials science and new radiation technologies. In particular, the accelerator was used to study the yields and cross sections of multiparticle photonuclear reactions and promising methods of developing medical isotopes. In 2020–2021, the influence of neutron and gamma radiation on the characteristics of the optical elements of the new PLUME detector of the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).
It should be recalled that in June, director of the Institute of Scintillation Materials of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Borys Hrynyov, made a statement at the 212th meeting of the CERN Council, in which he noted that during the fifteen months of war against Ukraine, russia established its own alternative supply channels for microelectronics, high-precision equipment by smuggling through third countries that work together in CERN projects. He called for an end to CERN's cooperation with russia. It should be noted that the CERN Council adopted sanctions against the russian federation and the republic of belarus in March 2022.
